When wearing a 3 button blazer always remember the saying, "Sometimes, Always, Never" with respect to rules of buttons on your blazer. Always button the middle button, the top button can be buttoned on occasion ( i.e. when giving a presentation), and never button the third button. Weddings, white tie, and black tie events are the only times all buttons on a formal suit should be buttoned. This applies of course accept when seated. You may leave the top button alone. More importantly, your coat should always be buttoned at the first button in a business setting except when seated. The image used above is compliments of The Art of Manliness. The Sometimes, Always, Never rule not only applies for 3 button blazers, but double breasted and 2 button blazers. Rules are as follows:

The Double-Breasted:
One should only button the middle button if/when more than one button is functional.

The Two Button Blazer:
The rules of buttoning the two-button single breast blazer are rather simple. Always button the top button. There are no exceptions to this rule. This jacket is very convenient for broader men; the slimming effect brought by a deeper V will lengthen your torso and make you look dapper.

The Single Button Blazer:
If you have issues or doubts about how to deal with a single button blazer,  we recommend you fill the contact form on our Contact tab because you obviously need immediate help. The single button blazers are excellent for shorter men. The single button blazer will extends your torso making you look taller.

I do not really know how to properly wear a blazer, which is why I appreciate this guide that you wrote. If you ask me, fashion is not really something that is easy to grasp. There are a lot of things that you need to take into consideration and they are really hard to keep track of. Blazers, in particular, are items of clothing that I rarely get to use. I do hope that I have learned a lot after reading this guide.
